Albright Capital’s core interdisciplinary team of investment professionals has been together for over fifteen years. The team’s collective experience dates back to the Latin American debt crisis in the 1980s and the Asian Crisis in the 1990s.

  

John Yonemoto, Co-founder, Chief Investment Officer and Co-Portfolio Manager

John Yonemoto brings more than 28 years of interdisciplinary experience managing a variety of investments and emerging markets products in both institutional capital markets and alternative asset management.

Mr. Yonemoto helped establish ING Groep as the preeminent emerging markets investment bank, serving in various roles in trading and analytics. He was Global Head of Emerging Markets Proprietary Trading for ING Barings.

Prior to joining Albright Capital, Mr. Yonemoto was a Managing Director and lead public markets portfolio manager for Darby Overseas Investments, Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Franklin Templeton Investments. His early work experience was on the credit side as a commercial loan officer.

Mr. Yonemoto earned a BA in Economics from the University of Chicago.

Nelson Oliveira, General Counsel and Managing Director

Nelson Oliveira has over 26 years of transactional legal experience advising on jurisdictional risks across the full spectrum of emerging markets private investment structures. He has served as outside and internal legal advisor to principal investors, lenders, issuers, political risk insurers, and borrowers.

Mr. Oliveira’s prior experience includes Coudert Brothers and Debevoise & Plimpton, the Overseas Private Investment Corporation and Wilmer, Cutler & Pickering (now WilmerHale), where he worked on an array of U.S. and cross border financings.

Prior to joining Albright Capital, Mr. Oliveira served as Deputy General Counsel of Darby Overseas Investments, Ltd., the emerging market private investment unit of Franklin Templeton Investments, where he was responsible for all legal aspects of the firm’s emerging markets mezzanine fund platform, with funds dedicated to Latin America, Asia and emerging Europe.

Mr. Oliveira received a BA in History from Bowdoin College, where he was awarded a Thomas J. Watson Fellowship, and he earned his JD, cum laude, from Boston College.

Gregory Bowes, Co-founder and Managing Principal

Gregory Bowes has over 30 years of experience building successful financial services and alternative asset management businesses.

Co-founding Albright Capital, after senior early stage catalytic roles in three previous financial services companies, was a natural evolution of his long standing pursuit of market inefficiencies.

Mr. Bowes' prior experience includes serving as Senior Executive Officer of Greenwich (Capital) International and Vice President of Bankers Trust Company.

At Greenwich Capital Markets, he developed the firm’s international activities based in London. Post-acquisition by National Westminster Bank/Royal Bank of Scotland, he served as Co-Head of NatWest Capital Markets.

At Bankers Trust Company, he financed early leveraged buyouts and distressed investors as a member of the credit-intensive Commercial Banking Group, before moving into more liquid capital markets.

Mr. Bowes is a graduate (Economics and History) and Trustee Emeritus of Bowdoin College. He serves on the Board of Directors of Camp Pemigewassett.

Lap Wai Chan, Senior Director

Lap Wai Chan has been an active investor in special situations and distressed securities for more than 20 years, across Asia, Latin America, North America and Oceana.

Prior to his time at Albright Capital, Mr. Chan was the Managing Partner and international portfolio manager for Matlin Patterson Global Opportunities Funds. His previous experience includes establishing and serving as Managing Director of Credit Suisse’s Distressed Group as well as serving as Director of Asian Special Investments for ING Barings Securities Ltd. in Hong Kong. Mr. Chan has also focused on South American emerging markets finance as head of EMG sales in Tokyo and Vice President of EMG corporate finance, sales and trading in New York.

Mr. Chan holds a BA, with honors, from the University of Chicago.

Angie Chau, Senior Vice President

Ms. Chau has over 10 years of experience in the financial services industry, focusing initially on the Asian emerging markets. From 2004 to 2010, Ms. Chau advised banks, insurance and asset management companies on developing their regional growth strategies and executing M&A and corporate finance transaction across nine Asian markets, beginning as a Financial Analyst in UBS’s Asia Financial Institutions Group in Hong Kong, following as an Associate in Lehman Brothers’ Asia Corporate Strategy team in Tokyo, and as a Manager in Macquarie’s Hong Kong-based Asia Financial Institutions Group.

At Albright Capital, Ms. Chau was involved in the execution of the structured investments in Flemingo and Innovattel, and the most recent private equity investment in APR Energy.

Ms. Chau received a BS, cum laude, in Operations Research and Industrial Engineering from Cornell University in 2004 and a MBA from Columbia Business School with a concentration in Finance in 2012.

Gary Hahn, Vice President - Operations

Mr. Hahn’s experience in the Information Technology field spans over twenty-two years and incorporates a wide array of technologies and industry recognized certifications in Novell (Certified Netware Administrator), Hardware (A+ Certified), Citrix (Certified Citrix Administrator), Cisco (Cisco Certified Network Administrator), and Microsoft (Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer). Prior to joining Albright Capital in 2007 Mr. Hahn worked as a Senior Information Technology consultant for several companies, specializing in network design, implementation and support. Prior to working in the Information Technology field, Mr. Hahn earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Maryland.

Chandler Payne, Vice President

Mr. Payne joined Albright Capital in 2018. Previously, Mr. Payne was an Analyst in Equity-Linked Capital Markets at Bank of America Merrill Lynch in New York. At Albright Capital, he has focused on infrastructure, distressed, and financial services investment opportunities. Mr. Payne holds a B.S. in Business Administration, cum laude, in International Business and Finance from Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business and a M.A. in Latin American Studies, focused on Political Economy and International Business Diplomacy, from Georgetown University’s Walsh School of Foreign Service. He is fluent in Portuguese and Spanish.

Tim Jones, Managing Director - Operations

Mr. Jones is Managing Director – Finance and Operations, and chairs Albright Capital's Operations Committee. He works closely with the Administrator and Auditor of the Fund to ensure timely reporting and audit report completion, and has the function of the chief financial officer of Albright Capital. He has 16 years of experience as an auditor/controller with business, accounting and operations experience across multiple business lines. Prior to joining Albright Capital in 2004, Mr. Jones worked as CFO and manager of various businesses, including Franklin and Company and two start-up ventures. Mr. Jones received a Bachelor of Science in Accounting, with honors, from Rutgers University.

Sebastián Izurieta, Vice President

Mr. Izurieta joined Albright Capital Management in 2021, where he has focused on developing new products and investment strategies. Previously, Mr. Izurieta worked for more than four years in PC Capital, a growth PE firm based in Mexico City, while performing as an alternate director on the board of directors of a microfinance company for four years.

Before, he worked at PwC doing financial due diligence and structuring securitizations. Mr. Izurieta also co-founded a construction company in Mexico.

Mr. Izurieta received a bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Financial Strategy from ITAM in 2016 in Mexico City and an MBA from the UVA Darden School of Business with a concentration in Management Science in 2023.

Jonathan Prin, Co-Portfolio Manager

Jonathan Prin, CFA brings more than twenty years of experience in investing in global fixed income and credit.

Prior to joining Albright Capital, Mr. Prin was a partner, portfolio manager and Director of Research at Greylock Capital, an investment firm that specializes in international fixed income and credit. Prior to Greylock, he was a portfolio manager in the Global Fixed Income Group at J.P. Morgan. He also previously held positions at Bear Stearns and Credit Suisse First Boston.

He has been a frequent writer and speaker on the topic of international investing. He is a founder of the Graham Center, a 501(c)3 research organization dedicated to thought leadership in the investment management community. He was previously Chair of the Board of CFA Society New York, a leading forum for investment professionals in New York City, and the largest CFA society globally.

Mr. Prin holds a Bachelor's Degree in Economics and Classical Studies from the University of Pennsylvania, as well as the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.

He is currently on the board of PSECU, one of the nation’s largest credit unions, where he serves on the asset and liability committee.
